dit schilderij is een fraai en representatief werk voor deze meester; het spelen vh licht op het lover en het landschap bewijst zijn klasse en vakmanschap!

Leo Van Der Smissen (°Dendermonde 1900 - +Brugge 1996). Schilder van landschappen, Brugse stadsgezichten, kerkinterieurs en stillevens. Opleiding aan de academies van Brugge (1913-1919), Gent (1920-1921) en Dendermonde (1923-1924). 1ste Prijs voor Schilderkunst van West-Vlaanderen. Wordt aanvankelijk beïnvloed door de School van Dendermonde. Komt daarna langzaamaan los en evolueert naar een persoonlijke stijl met een helder luministisch kleurenpalet. Wordt later ook tot de Brugse school gerekend. (framed). Gesigneerd (signed)
