1853, Ceres 1fr. carmine in combination with Presidence 10c. bistre horizontal strip of three, correct 1.30fr. rate by British steamer on lettersheet from Paris to Geo.H.Sharp, Kingston/New York, obliterated by losange "DS2" and c.d.s. "PARIS 27 OCT 53" alongside, endorsed "Per 'Europa' via Liverpool", New York arrival alongside. The stamps are of fresh colours, 1fr. shows a larger tear and 10c. strip is cut into, the lettersheet with some postal wear/tear at base. Certificate APS. Despite the imperfections a rarely seen combination! Maury 6, 9 (3) - 5.650,- € (price for 10c. strip of three used on cover). The addressee George Henry Sharpe (February 26, 1828 – January 13, 1900) was an American lawyer, politician and a Member of the Board of General Appraisers. He served in the United States Army during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865, attaining the rank of Major General. This letter informs him about the receipt of a payment of 10225fr. from Eben Thayer, New York, having been credited to his account in Paris.

In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
